Harvey Weinstein

October 12, 2017

Filmed in the summer of 2014 and released in the United States on September 1, 2017, Tulip Fever is the film that Cara worked on with the Weinsten Company.  The film also stars Alicia Vikander, Dane DeHann, Jack O'Connel, Holliday Grainger, Matthew Morrison, Judi Dench, Christopher Waltz and Zach Galifianakis.

Cara's full statement regarding Harvey Weinstein

When I first started to work as an actress, i was working on a film and I received a call from‎ Harvey Weinstein asking if I had slept with any of the women I was seen out with in the media. It was a very odd and uncomfortable call....i answered none of his questions and hurried off the phone but before I hung up, he said to me that If I was gay or decided to be with a woman especially in public that I'd never get the role of a straight woman or make it as an actress in Hollywood. A year or two later, I went to a meeting with him in the lobby of a hotel with a director about an upcoming film. The director left the meeting and Harvey asked me to stay and chat with him. As soon as we were alone he began to brag about all the actresses he had slept with and how he had made their careers and spoke about other inappropriate things of a sexual nature. He then invited me to his room. I quickly declined and asked his assistant if my car was outside. She said it wasn't and wouldn't be for a bit and I should go to his room. At that moment I felt very powerless and scared but didn't want to act that way hoping that I was wrong about the situation. When I arrived I was relieved to find another woman in his room and thought immediately I was safe. He asked us to kiss and she began some sort of advances upon his direction. I swiftly got up and asked him if he knew that I could sing. And I began to sing....i thought it would make the situation better....more professional....like an audition....i was so nervous. After singing I said again that I had to leave. He walked me to the door and stood in front of it and tried to kiss me on the lips. I stopped him and managed to get out of the room. I still got the part for the film and always thought that he gave it to me because of what happened. Since then I felt awful that I did the movie. I felt like I didn't deserve the part. I was so hesitant about speaking out....I didn't want to hurt his family. I felt guilty as if I did something wrong. I was also terrified that this sort of thing had happened to so many women I know but no one had said anything because of fear.

Modeling

The Edit

"And you’re made to feel that once you get a mark, like a ‘C’, that’s your mark in life; that’s you as a human being. That really sat with me for a long time.”

Vogue FR - October 2017

Elle UK September 2017

'I've always had this wonderful connection with teenagers…Just having girls message me being like, 'I'm really dealing with the pressure of my thoughts, my friends, eating disorders.' That kind of thing, where I was like, I have an opportunity to really be there for them and help…be a voice for teens and be honest as to how I suffered as a teenager.'

British GQ - August 2017

“I am a very outwardly free person, even though sometimes I don’t feel that way inside… Inside, I have so many fears. I work in an industry where I care what other people think and I’m nervous all the time. If I don’t admit that it’s going on, it comes out in my skin... You pretend it doesn’t exist, that’s when it comes out, whether it’s heartbreak or something at work.”

Glamour US - August 2017

--I always say, modeling is something I do, whereas acting feels more like what I [am]. I have felt better than I felt in years, and that’s purely from doing what I love. Especially because, while I’ve been doing this film [the upcoming Life in a Year], I’ve been sober. Being completely clean and clearheaded has been so helpful with getting into character.

VMagazine US - May 2017

-I didn’t know we were meeting about this movie (Valerian). Even my agents didn’t know it was for this, and it was clear this was a top-secret project. I was just told, 'Luc wants to have brunch,' and I said, 'Great, let’s do it.' But when we met, he explained it all with such enthusiasm that it was clear he’d been trying to do this for so long and it was a passion project.

Love Magazine UK - February 2017

Elle US Sept 2016
-If I don't cry pretty much every day I will hold it in, and it will manifest in me.

Esquire UK September 2016
-There are some girls who are beautiful all the time, that's just who they are.  I'm not.  I'm a weirdo, I'm a goofball.

Vogue UK September 2016
-if people want to say I'm gay, that's great.  But we're all liquid - we change, we grow.

WMag June/July 2016
Delevingne may have thrown in the towel for runway work, but that doesn’t mean she’s off fashion duty entirely.

“God, I want a tequila.”’ Someone overheard. ‘Cara, who I’d never met before, was about five metres away from me and her ears just pricked up and she said, “Did someone say tequila?"
